Bible question for very smart person. Please help!?
I really need to know what type of calender was used in the Old Testament by Moses and the Israelites. Was it lunar or solar and how long was it?
Thank you all very much. Because of this, I have been able to figure out exactly how old the earth is. Many scholars agree that Abraham was born in 2166 BC. In Genesis, we have all of the ages that people were when they had children. if they used a lunar calender of 360 days a year, then the world is 4016 solar years old!
It was lunar – an agricultural calendar as it were. The ancients could view the lunar phases easily.
The Hebrew calendar is typically 29-30 days in a month and a full lunar year is 360 days.
12 X 30 = 360
